Keep BSOD On Screen

If you've ever gotten a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) there's a good chance it was on your screen for about 2 seconds before your machine rebooted. And if you have ever gotten a good look there is usually a super long error code or description that disappears before you can even finish reading it, let alone write it down on a piece of paper. Luckily there is an option in Windows to keep the BSOD on screen until you give it a three finger salute (aka: Ctrl + Alt + Del) to reboot. Instructions below...

  1. Left Click on the Start button, Right Click My Computer and select Properties
  2. Select the Advanced tab (Advanced system properties in Vista)
  3. Under Startup and Recovery click on the Settings button
  4. Under System failure, uncheck the Automatically restart option
  5. Click OK in the Startup and Recovery window, Click OK in the System Properties window
  6. Next time you get a BSOD, write down the error code and look it up in Google =]
